Who the Ride Helps

The Olympic Peninsula Bike Adventure is a fund-raiser with all proceeds to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula Foundation and the Port Angeles Park & Recreation Department.

Boys and Girls Club

Our Mission:

To inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

What is the most dangerous time for kids? 3 years old? 13 years old? Actually - it's between 3 PM and 7 PM every day after school and all day during the summer - the time when a child is most likely to be unsupervised and most likely to chose negative activities.

Our clubs are located in Sequim and Port Angeles and for only $24 dollars a Boys & Girls club photocalendar year a kid can attend a club every day after school and during the summer for at least 5 hours a day. Scholarships are provided for any individual unable to afford, but even at these low fees nearly 20% of our members are on scholarships.

During Clubhouse hours, we provide programs in five areas:

  • Character and Leadership Development
  • Education and Career Development
  • Health and Life Skills
  • The Arts
  • Sports, Fitness and Recreation

Our Boys and Girls Club programs have provided everything from a skirt and blouse for a choir performance, daily help with homework from a caring adult, to advanced computer skills training or just a consistent shoulder to lean on. We are literally saving lives at our Boys and Girls Club. We are also dispensing opportunities. Because we exist, youth attending our facilities have:

  • Made their first trip to Seattle (only two hours away by car);
  • Ridden on an elevator and ferry for the first time;
  • Attended a ballet or a world-cup soccer match for the first time;
  • Hiked Mount Storm King and slept in a sleeping bag for the first time.

Our Endowment Needs

The Foundation's goal is to develop an endowment of 5 million dollars. 5% of the endowment would be used each year to assist with operating costs. Once built, the endowment would contribute a critical operating legacy.
